What makes Omica’s Liquid Stevias special?
Omica Organics’ Liquid Stevia™ is a naturally highly-concentrated direct extract. Created using our proprietary revolutionary TruExtract™ production method, our liquid stevia is not reconstituted from white powdered stevia extract. Ours is a true liquid extract that has been only slightly filtered, leaving the beneficial micronutrients intact. The result is an aromatic, dynamic sweetness without the bitterness associated with other stevia products.

What Makes Omica Organics’ Liquid Stevia Extracts Unique?
- We use our proprietary TruExtractTM processing method, not the industry-standard chemicals (methane, hexane, or ethyl acetate) others use to extract the stevia essence from the leaves
- Our stevia is Certified Organic. Only stevia processed without synthetic chemicals can be certified
- We avoid all harsh methods that leave residue and reduce the natural concentration of the stevia leaf
- We never use chemical preservatives, such as benzoic acid, potassium sorbate or citric acid
- Our liquid stevia sweeteners are un-reconstituted
- Omica stevia contains high levels of Rebaudioside A, reducing bitter aftertaste
- And also a high level of Stevioglycosides, the measure of sweetness
Omica Organics’ proprietary stevia is cultivated from an extensive network of family-owned stevia farms. Self-sustaining farming methods help preserve the naturally-beneficial phytochemicals of the stevia leaf. The finest stevia leaves are picked by hand at the peak time of the growing season and then dried naturally with sunlight and fresh air.
No Synthetic Extraction
We use none of the common industry-standard solvents for our extractions. Instead, use our own gentle and proprietary TruExtractTM method without synthetic chemicals.
Certified Organic Stevia
On our labels, you’ll see the wording “Certified Organic.” This indicates that our stevia has passed, and continues to pass the stringent annual tests and inspections of an Organic Certification agency. There are many requirements involved in the certification process, including avoidance of all use of enzyme-processing or synthetic chemicals such as synthetic preservatives, byproduct-derived glycerin, and synthetic solvents.
A Word About Preservatives, Glycerin, and Alcohol
All sweeteners except honey must contain preservatives. The only question is the quality used. The most common preservatives found in liquid stevias are synthetics, mainly potassium sorbate, citric acid, or benzoic acid.
Instead of synthetics, we choose to use only the finest alcohol and glycerin available, and in the lowest amounts possible. We use Certified Organic Biodynamic Grape Alcohol, and Certified Organic Vegetable Glycerin made specifically for us. The majority of glycerin on the market is a byproduct of other industries, mainly soap and biofuel, and we agree that these glycerins should be avoided. Our glycerin is NOT a byproduct, but made specifically for us, Organic, Kosher, food-grade and pure. Our unique glycerin is highly prized and we not only use it in our products, but provide it in bulk to other quality-conscious manufacturers.
Both alcohol and glycerin have a unique and recognizable taste. We’ve worked hard to find the perfect ratio that allows us to use the least amounts of each to preserve without affecting the natural stevia flavor.
Rebaudiosides and Stevioglycosides
Rebaudiosides and Stevioglycosides are characteristics of the leaves themselves, and vary depending on the quality of leaves you start with.
Rebaudiosides are the measure of bitterness (aftertaste). There are 3 basic categories of rebaudiosides, A, B, and C, from least bitter (Reb-A) to most bitter (Reb-C). Generally-speaking, the higher the levels of Reb-A and the lower the levels of Reb-C, the better-tasting the stevia. In the industry, it’s common for stevia manufacturers to use lower-quality, less expensive leaves with no Reb-A at all, leading many to believe that a bitter aftertaste is characteristic of all stevia.
Omica’s small farms select only leaves containing naturally high levels of Reb-A and high Stevioglycosides, making ours the sweetest and smoothest-tasting liquid stevia extracts available in the marketplace.
Stevioglycosides denote potency (sweetness). The more stevioglycosides, the sweeter the stevia will be, and the less you need use. Click the link found on any of our liquid stevia product pages to see the lab report showing our stevioglycoside level above 98%, resulting in a bold, highly-concentrated sweetener that retains the exquisite sweetness and vitality of the stevia plant. We are the only manufacturer that can offer Organic >98% stevioglycosides in the retail market. In comparison, most stevia powders being sold on the market are below 65% Reb-A, the remaining 35% being lower quality Reb-B and worse, Reb-C.
What is “Un-reconstituted?”
Standard methods for creating stevia liquid extracts consist of dehydrating the stevia extract using a spray-dry method, then later reconstituting the resulting white stevia powder back into liquid prior to bottling. Though spray-drying is a high-heat process that essentially eliminates all nutritional value, the majority of liquid stevias are made this way to make shipping and storing much less costly for the manufacturer.
Omica Organics’ method is markedly different. Our exclusive, proprietary TruExtractTM method produces a direct liquid extract that remains a liquid from leaf to bottle, and which retains all the natural nutritional benefits of the stevia plant.
Let’s Talk About Coagulation or “Cloudiness”
At this point, you now know more than most of the general public about what goes into making quality stevia. With that background, we can explain in detail the several factors involved in why our stevia can cloud and coagulate.
First, the more naturally sweet the liquid, the more likely it is to coagulate. Take honey, for instance, a naturally very sweet liquid familiar to most people. You may have noticed that some honeys will crystallize (coagulate), while other honey brands don’t. Honey that crystallizes is more natural and only lightly processed, while honey that doesn’t crystallize has been very highly processed.
Many manufacturers make their liquid stevia using the reconstitution process with inorganic chemicals. The solvents needed to reconstitute liquid stevia from a spray-dried white powder keeps their stevia appearing completely clear for years. Unfortunately, the long-term clear appearance masks the solvents that were added to make it. We process naturally using our proprietary TruExtractTM process, which allows Omica to qualify for Organic certification and to sell a better product, but also allows our liquid stevia to coagulate or “cloud” over time.
Our organic glycerin and alcohol do help combat coagulation, but we use the lowest amounts possible that will preserve. To keep liquid stevia completely clear would require much more than that, and in those quantities, the distinct tastes of both glycerin and alcohol would be unmistakable.
The majority of liquid stevias on the market are reconstituted, with low Steviosides, and high levels of glycerin and alcohol. Add in the low levels of Reb-A in most stevias, and it’s no wonder a large segment of consumers believe that stevia is naturally both clear and bitter-tasting.
Coagulation, or what we refer to as the “honey-bear crystallization effect,” is inherent in high-quality stevia, and there is no way to produce a chemical-free liquid stevia that doesn’t eventually coagulate. So manufacturers must choose between making quality, solvent-free product or one that retains a completely clear appearance.
For us, the choice was obvious. We make our Liquid Stevia Extracts from the finest high Reb-A and Stevioside leaves, use only the smallest amounts of the highest quality Organic Vegetable Glycerin and Organic Biodynamic Grape Alcohol possible, use no synthetic chemicals or preservatives, and process the more natural way without spray-drying and reconstituting.
Please know that, just as crystallized honey is normal and safe, our stevia is also safe to use when coagulated or cloudy. To re-liquefy, stand the bottle and dropper in a cup of hot water.
If you prefer a high-quality clear liquid (without rich texture, aroma, and color), we do offer an excellent white stevia extract powder that will make several gallons of clear, liquid stevia when diluted with water. Though Omica’s white stevia extract powder is spray-dried and further filtered (the only way to make a stevia extract powder), it is still free of additives and non-organic (synthetic) solvents. Our stevia extract powder also contains high levels of Rebaudioside-A and low levels of Rebaudioside-C giving it a very clean sweet taste with very little to no aftertaste.
Glass Containers and Droppers
In keeping with Omica Organics’ high standards, we pay close attention to detail. For instance, many of our liquid supplements and our 2-ounce liquid stevias are sold in glass bottles with custom-made blunt-tipped glass droppers so there is no plastic touching the liquid. For further safety, we undertook to have special droppers custom produced just for our products, rather than purchase industry-standard glass bull-nose droppers, which have a long, thin tip and are prone to breaking.
Omica produces liquid stevias that are high-quality, more naturally processed, and with the nutrients, sweetness, and low-to-no aftertaste inherent in the stevia plant itself. We avoid chemicals and solvents in our processing, enabling our liquid stevias to be Organic-Certified, a very stringent and exacting annual qualification process. We’re sure you’ll agree that we offer the best liquid stevia on the market.
